ATL=Attempt to locate, BOLO=Be on the look out, CID=Criminal Investigative Division/Crime Lab, Code Blue=Cardiac arrest, or full arrest--person with no heartbeat or not breathing, Comp=Complainant (See also-RP), CSU=Crime Scene Unit, DK=Drunk/Intoxicated, DOA=Dead on arrival (or possible DOA as more commonly heard) EOD=Explosives and ordinance disposal (or detection like EOD K-9), GOA=Gone on arrival, ICN=Incident control number (for police reports, a number given to each call), KOPS (Info or Alert)=Keeping Our Police Safe, a database and system used to record and distribute information about criminals with a violent history, especially towards Law Enforcement Officers, Corrections Agents or other authorities and public safetly officials.This gives an officer info about a person who may intend to harm him/her and take preventative measures to stop that from happening. |

May hear this as "MDT phone call" or "info on your MDT", ME=Medical Examiner, PI=Personal Injury (most often in reference to a personal injury accident compared to a 'property damage only accident') PIT=Pursuit intervention technique (one of many ways this acronym is defined, but all mean the same thing---using the front corner of a squads car to contact and 'nudge' the fleeing vehicle's rear end resulting in it losing control and spinning out), RP=Reporting party, UNK=Unknown, UTL=Unable to Locate. |
Response Codes Heard On The Eden Prairie Police Scanner
Code 1=Respond routine, no lights or sirens, obeying all traffic lights/laws, Code 2=Respond as fast as possible without using lights/sirens and obeying traffic light/laws, Code 3=Respond emergency, use lights and sirens and go through any stoplights/signs needed, as safety permits (also known as 'going on the reds), Code 4=Situatuon under control, no further assistance needed. Any units still en route/not arrived may cancel.
